NDIS Registration Support

Becoming a registered NDIS provider involves a structured process managed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. You need to choose the right registration groups, complete a self-assessment against NDIS Practice Standards, develop compliant policies and procedures, and pass a quality audit.

It is a process that rewards preparation. Providers who invest in getting their documentation, systems, and evidence right before they apply move through the process more smoothly and with fewer setbacks.

Pravida supports providers through every stage of that process

About this service

Understand the pathway before you commit.

Becoming a registered NDIS provider involves a structured process managed by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. You need to choose the right registration groups, complete a self-assessment against the NDIS Practice Standards, develop compliant policies and procedures, and pass a quality audit.

The process rewards preparation. Providers who get their documentation, systems and evidence ready before applying can move through each stage more smoothly and with fewer avoidable setbacks.

Pravida supports providers through every stage of that process, while the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission retains responsibility for the final registration decision.

Who this is for
What you need to know

What NDIS registration involves

Your registration groups determine which Practice Standards apply and whether you need a verification or certification audit.
1
Registration groups

There are 36 registration groups, each covering a specific support or service. Your choices determine the Practice Standards, audit type and documentation required, so they must match your actual service model.

2
Self-assessment

Before audit, you must demonstrate how your organisation meets every relevant Practice Standard. This requires documented evidence that policies, procedures and operational systems are in place.

3
Suitability assessment

The Commission assesses the applicant and key personnel, including criminal history and suitability to deliver NDIS supports.

4
Quality audit

An approved quality auditor conducts a verification or certification audit and submits a recommendation to the Commission.

5
Commission decision

The Commission reviews the audit recommendation and suitability assessment before making the final registration decision.

What Pravida delivers

Support built around your actual requirements.

Every engagement is scoped to the services, standards and evidence relevant to your organisation.
1
Registration group selection

Your registration groups determine the standards, audit type and documents required. We help you choose groups that match your service model and business plan, avoiding costly scope problems later.

2
Policy development

Build customised policies and procedures around your services, staffing structure and applicable Practice Standards. The documents are designed for your operation, not supplied as a generic pack.

3
Self-assessment preparation

Treat the self-assessment as your evidence pack. We help you build clear, structured proof for every standard that applies instead of relying on vague compliance statements.

4
Audit preparation

Understand what the auditor will assess, the questions they may ask and how to present evidence. Remaining gaps are addressed before audit day.

5
Application support

Get guidance through the application form, document uploads, suitability questions and portal requirements.

Mandatory registration update

SIL and platform providers must register from 1 July 2026.

Supported Independent Living and platform providers will need to meet registration requirements, including independent audits, suitability assessments and worker screening checks. New SIL-specific Practice Standards also take effect from that date. Unregistered providers should begin preparing well before the compliance date.

Mandatory registration for support coordination providers is paused while further reform is considered.

Common questions

Questions about ndis registration

How long should I allow for the registration process?
Plan for several months from initial preparation to registration decision. The timeline depends on your registration groups, audit type, the completeness of your documentation, and the Commission’s processing times. We help you move through each stage efficiently, but the Commission’s assessment timeline is outside anyone’s control
Verification audits are desk-based and apply to lower-risk registration groups. Certification audits are more comprehensive, typically involve site visits, and apply to higher-risk groups such as personal care, daily living support, early childhood, and specialist disability accommodation. If any of your chosen groups require certification, your entire application goes through the certification process.
Yes. The NDIS Commission accepts applications from individuals, partnerships, companies, and other entity types. Your entity structure will influence some of the governance and operational requirements.
All key personnel must have an NDISWorker Screening clearance. Workers in risk-assessed roles also require clearance. Screening is conducted by your state or territory’s worker screening unit and is valid for upto five years. Note that in Queensland, South Australia, and Victoria, workers cannot start inrisk-assessed roles until their screening is finalised
The Commission will provide reasons for the decision. You can address the identified issues and reapply. Many unsuccessful applications fail on documentation and evidence gaps rather than fundamental business model problems, which is why thorough preparation matters.
